Cynthia Walat is a mixed media fiber artist based in Boston, Massachusetts.
Working in mediums of post-consumer waste and single use plastics she explores the issue of waste and consumption in our daily lives. Using repurposed materials found in trash piles and on regular walks around her neighborhood she uses traditional fiber techniques to create works that hide their original origin. She strongly believes that there is abundant beauty to be found in nature with objects not obviously grown in nature. Walat has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Maryland, College Park. Her work has been exhibited in the Greater Boston area at LexArts, The Hyde Park Art Association and the Cambridge Art Association since 2021.
